Again, Sky Sports shows the love for Leeds United and the ratings that the club brings, as both the New Year’s Day and the Boxing Day fixtures will be televised.

First, the Leeds United away match at Burton Albion on Boxing Day will be shown live on Sky, and the New Year’s Day fixture at home to Nottingham Forest on New Year’s Day will also be shown live on Sky.

Leeds won both of the reverse fixtures this season, with the home win over Burton Albion perhaps the best performance of the season by the team, and the win over Nottingham Forest featured a wonder-strike from Gjanni Alioski late in the match.

Both matches, somehow, will still take place at 15.00, so at least the times of the matches shown by Sky will not be changed, something that hasn’t happened in the recent past, as some of the autumn fixtures that were selected by Sky had either date, time, or both changed to satisfy the powers-that-be at Sky.

As usual, it’s a good thing that the matches will be shown on Sky. First, the televising of matches hasn’t seemed to have any affect on attendance at all. Secondly, the more Leeds are on TV, the more attention (and money) the team gets from all across England. It’s also good for fans to be able to see the match on TV for the away match at Burton Albion, as the holidays are never a great time to travel and the size of Burton Albion’s Pirelli Stadium will mean that a lot of Leeds fans would struggle to find an away ticket.

It’s also good for overseas fans, as they get to save £10 on LUTV and watch the match on whatever local EFL rights holder they have, with the matches on ESPN3 (WatchESPN.com) in the United States or on DAZN in Canada. The matches will also be shown in proper HD, won’t have multiple errors, and the sound won’t sound like it’s being record in a tin can, unlike LUTV.
