Hoo-boy.
From what I understand, Rhyl made this an overly physical game. Leeds's Bryce Hosannah went in with a relatively firm tackle. Rhyl's senior pros then piled in on Hosannah. Paudie O'Connor went to defend his team-mate and ended up having punches thrown at him #LUFC https://t.co/xQKnu9ELnE

Fight at Rhyl followed a late tackle by #lufc’s Bryce Hossanah but Leeds had been unhappy with Rhyl’s physical approach throughout. United’s decision to take their players off and get on the bus home.

Leeds United U23s played a “friendly” against Rhyl FC which didn’t end up very friendly. From the sounds of it, basically what I saw retweeted on Twitter, the Rhyl FC players were playing dirty all match until it all boiled over. The video that was posted online showed a member of Rhyl FC trying to punch Paudie O’Connor.
We Will always represent Leeds United with the correct behaviours and values respecting the opponent and the football rules. Proud of the players today in the way they conducted themselves. #MOT

Even if there was some pushing and shoving after some questionable tackles, the senior players at Rhyl had responsibility to not let things boil over and a responsibility to not try and get into a fist fight with some teenagers. It’s a bad look for Rhyl, no matter if Leeds were the “big” team here, as they were supposed to be the adults on the pitch. Seriously, who wants to have their U23s go somewhere to play and fear that the other team is going to start a fight?
Anyway, on to the links.
