Big thanks to Jack Lee of SB Nation’s Leicester City blog Fosse Posse for taking the time to answer our questions ahead of tonight’s League Cup clash between Leeds United and Leicester City.
Be sure to check them out and take a look at we had to say to them!
1. What is the mood around the club right now? Craig Shakespeare looked like the best manager in England until he didn't and now Leicester is looking for another manager.
The mood is pretty low and many were disappointed to see Shakespeare given such a short leash. Even for those who were happy to see him go there’s definitely concern about turning back into a club with a quick firing culture. At the weekend there were banners calling for the director of football to be sacked as well, so our spirits could be higher.
2. Just how seriously is Leicester taking the League Cup?
As seriously as any Premier League team does anymore. The owners have talked it up as a shortcut into Europe, but we played an almost entirely rotated side in the last round and probably will again.
3. Which player has been the biggest disappointment so far this year? Biggest surprise?
It’s been hard to pin our disappointment on just one player, but Islam Slimani cost £30m and can’t crack the starting line up. This year he had a full preseason to settle in but he’s made even less impact than before. We thought Harry Maguire would be good but he’s still been by far the most pleasant surprise.
4. Who should Leeds fans look out for in the match?
England Under 21 duo Ben Chilwell and Demarai Gray will probably start together on the left. They’re young and inconsistent (Gray in particular), but play some fantastic football at times.
5. Predict the score.
I think we’ll make it difficult for ourselves, bring on Vardy at half time and scrape through 3-2.
