After a tough result against Sheffield United Ladies, losing on penalties at Bramall Lane in the Women’s FA Cup, and a close 0-1 loss at Hull City Ladies during the midweek, Leeds United Ladies look to rebound with a short trip to Ripon to take on the Ripon City Ladies in the FA County Cup.
Ripon City Ladies play in the West Riding County Women’s Football League Second Division. The are currently 5th in the table out of eight teams. The other members of the league are Middleton Athletic, Lower Hopton, Skipton Town, Farsley Celtic Development, Boroughbridge, Hebden Royd United, and Ossett Town Development.
Leeds United Ladies will certainly favour their chances against the amateur side, and should be looking to get a good result in order to get a little momentum going towards the rest of the season. The squad will take on Solihill Moors Ladies in the FA Plate next weekend at Garforth Town and resume FA WPL Northern Division 1 League play the 29th against Mossley Hill Athletic Ladies.
If Leeds Ladies captain Helen Wagstaff does not play, expect to see Catherine Hamill deputize for her, as she’s filled in as captain on four occasions this season so far. Carey “Kez” Hueget is still the leading scorer on the season with four goals.
Ripon is a short journey for anyone wanting to go and see a football match this afternoon, so if you have a chance, take the short trip to Mallorie Park to see the Leeds Ladies take on Ripon City Ladies in the FA County Cup. Come out and support the Women’s side of Leeds United. All Leeds Aren’t We!!!
