New season, new numbers, and a few surprises.

We know how much you love your kits, as evidenced by the crazy amount of hits we got on our Away and Home kit leaks this summer. Well, if you’re anything like me, you love your Squad numbers even more. Who’s wearing which number is the biggest question of the offseason for those of us suffering from Arithmomania or Obsessive-Complusive Disorder, and really, it’s interesting for a lot of us.

And so, today, Leeds United announced their first-team squad numbers. No huge surprises for me, but check it out, and then we’ll discuss. Your 2016/17 Leeds squad:

1. Robert Green

3. Sol Bamba

4. Toumani Diagouraga

5. Kyle Bartley

6. Liam Cooper

7. Kemar Roofe

8. Luke Murphy

9. Chris Wood

10. Marcus Antonsson

11. Souleymane Doukara

12. Marco Silvestri

15. Stuart Dallas

16. Matt Grimes

19. Pablo Hernandez

20. Jordan Botaka

21. Charlie Taylor

22. Ross Turnbull

23. Kalvin Phillips

24. Hadi Sacko

25. Ronaldo Vieira

27. Alex Mowatt

28. Gaetano Berardi

30. Bailey Peacock-Farrell

31. Lewie Coyle

33. Tyler Denton

There’s the list. Or, for those of you who prefer photos you can save on your phone to memorize later...

And then this one, if you want a visual of the home kits...

So there they are.

Some things we noticed: Sam Byram wore the 2 last season, and he hasn’t been replaced on the field or in our hearts, so it’s no surprise his number is left vacant. Alex Mowatt moving from 10 to 27 is an.... interesting selection... maybe taking pressure off will help? Pablo Hernandez as a 19 is a bit of a surprise? And Marco Silvestri moving to 12 while Rob Green takes the 1 is certainly telling, but I think we all saw that one coming. Does anything else stand out to you?
