In a busy morning of news at Elland Road, fans found out which company would adorn their favorite team's kits in the 2016/17 season. After a year of all-white and all-yellow kits (after the Enterprise debacle), online betting company 32Red will take the focal sponsorship for Leeds United for the next three seasons.
Leeds' Executive Director Paul Bell had this to say about the deal:
"We are delighted to announce a three-year shirt sponsorship deal with 32Red PLC, the UK's premier online casino entertainment brand. We are hugely excited by this partnership and the opportunities it will deliver for all involved. 32Red are a modern, forward-thinking brand with a long-standing and successful history of sponsoring high-profile teams within football and we are delighted to welcome them into our commercial partners programme. We look forward to building a strong relationship between our two brands both on and off the field as we seek to return to the Premier League. Our commercial partners are extremely important to the Club and we would like to thank 32Red for their support."
After a year of clean kits, I think it's a little bit of a disappointment to see an online betting company with access to the best shirts in football. Some fans were upset for other reasons...
Leeds United will be sponsored by 32R*d for the next three seasons. R*d? #LUFC.— RightInTheGaryKellys (@RITGK) May 13, 2016
And a few kept it in perspective better than others...
Uproar because it's going to say "red" on a Leeds kit pic.twitter.com/J9PIKf0iUH— Hawaiian Binky (@benleeds) May 13, 2016
@lufcstats I don't see the outrage as the name is going to be blue— jamie (@jamiepartridge3) May 13, 2016
Regardless, 32Red will be on our team's kits for the foreseeable future. What say you? Good move for the club? Happy we have somebody? Sad to see the classic, clean look go? Vote in the poll below and let us know in the comments. #MOT
