Leeds United March Madness continues: The Round of 32

Some BIG upsets marked the opening round, who will continue on to the Sweet 16? (Seriously, who wants to think about the game against Huddersfield anyway?)

On Thursday of last week, we here at Through It All Together kicked off the inaugural Leeds United March Madness, a single elimination bracket of 64 entries with categories for your favorite Leeds players, managers, greats, and icons. After four days of voting and over 2,500 votes, we completed the First Round last night and are now moving on to the Second Round, where 32 entries remain.

There were some serious upsets in the First Round, mostly in the Managers and Current Players brackets. In the Players bracket, 14-seed Liam Bridcutt pulled off the biggest upset of the Tournament thus far, topping 3-seed Alex Mowatt with a 49-43 victory, and Toumani Diagouraga upset the Captain, 7-seed Sol Bamba, with a comfortable win to move on to face 2-seed Lewis Cook.

In the Managers bracket, the old guard of Jimmy Armfield, Arthur Fairclough, Riach Carter, and Dick Ray couldn't hold onto their legacies and lost to the likes of Eddie Gray, Billy Bremner, Gary McAllister, and Steve Evans. Those upsets make for some fun Second Round matchups between low seeds in the Managers bracket... we'll see if any of those Cinderella teams can upset top seeds Don Revie and Howard Wilkinson to reach the Final Four..

On the other half of the bracket, the Greats and Icons regions went mostly according to seeding. Lucas Radebe upset Norman Hunter and The White Rose knocked out The Smiley, but all other top seeds won their First Round matchup. The strong stayed alive so far... will that continue in the Second Round?
