Chris Wood, the Big Kiwi up top, wins our October Reader’s Choice Player of the Month Award

He had some contest from Kyle Bartley, but Chris Wood wins our poll in October.

Goals.

Every team needs them to win, few teams have had as hard a time scoring them as Leeds United over the last few seasons. But one man, one man on this team scores goals regularly in 2016/17.

In August, the goals weren’t as often as we might have liked (two in five matches), and as the transfer window passed without another striker added, the Chris Wood hate was plentiful.

In September, he turned that around, cupping his ear to the crowd asking them where their boos were now, putting in four goals, three of them game-winners.

In October, he has earned the Reader’s Choice Player of the Month Award here at Through It All Together.

It was a close vote this time. In September, Pontus Jansson won in a landslide, as he earned your hearts with passion, tackles, and stalwart defence. But this month, Jansson’s centreback mate Cap’n Bartley couldn’t quite overcome the Wood lovefest. The Big Kiwi wins with 37% of the vote, after putting in another three goals, none more important than his added-time equaliser against Norwich City.

Luke Ayling and Marco Silvestri also earned nods from many of you, as did Kalvin Phillips, Eunan O’Kane and (of course) Pontus Jansson in the comments on social media. But Chris Wood stood tall. We’ll see how he stands in the TIAT Staff Player of the Month Voting early next week.

Congratulations Chris; here’s your People’s Choice POTM award sticker. Keep putting it in the net, keep cupping your ear, we’ll give you all the applause you deserve. MOT.
