Summer's in its prime, and so are the transfer rumours.
HITC is reporting that Newcastle is interested in moving 31-year-old Mike Williamson. The Whites are apparently in the market for an experienced defender for their ever-growing young roster.
Robert Rowe of BT Sport also reported that the Whites apparently bid £2.5 million on Williamson.

Since joining Magpies in 2010, Williamson has made 150 appearances, where his experience prevailed. He'd be an asset to Uwe Rosler's rookies, as this defender was a regular starter for an EPL side.
Mike is said to be pushing for transfer from Newcastle, based on reports that Newcastle is about to sign Chancel Mbemba from Anderlecht.
This would undermine his position as a regular player, and Williamson is looking for as much playing time as possible. That combined with him having only one year left on his contract means this is the perfect time for him to move.
After an unsucsessfull season, Williamson could use a fresh start and once again prove himself as a quality defender.
A move to a lower division might just be what he needs.
