Sol Bamba isn't only a great player, but also a leader. Various outlets are reporting that Bamba is one of the leading candidates for the captaincy.

Let me first say in my personal opinion I think that Bamba is the ideal choice. He proves he can "walk the talk" on the pitch, always giving 100% effort. He seems like a "team kinda guy", and it comes across well as you can see all his teammates love the guy.

The Ivorian centre-back is undoubtably a leading contender to earn the captaincy this season. Bamba joined the Whites permanently, after coming over from Palermo earlier last summer.

He was showcased during the second half of last nights game, earning the praise of his coach.

"I think Sol Bamba in the second half was fantastic , that's how I wish my defenders to compete", said Uwe Rosler.

The 30-year-old is proving that he's a team-centric player, telling LUTV how happy he was when Steve Morison scored:  "He deserved it. He works hard - good player, good lad."

He has a chance to further his campaign for the armband when the Whites play York City on Wednesday.

In a quote reported by Inside Futbol, the defender appears to be ready to earn the captaincy.

"It would be a huge thing for me to be a captain of such a big club. It would be an honour and a privilege.

"But I'm not asking for it. If the gaffer thinks I deserve it then I'll take it with pleasure, but if it's anyone else I'll just do my job.

"It would be an honour and a pleasure, but honestly it's not what I'm after, I just want to do the best for the club, the fans and the manager."
