So, after the debacle of Rochdale, its back to the bread and butter of the league campaign and what better way to get back on track then a lunchtime kick off against near neighbours Sheffield Wednesday, lets take a trip down memory lane.
Amazingly, Sunday sees the 22nd anniversary of one of our best ever away performances in Leeds United history, On Sunday January 1992, Leeds United traveled to Hillsborough minus influential captain Gordon Strachan and midfielder David Batty, trounced Trevor Francis Owls with a wonderful 6-1 against a side that had only been beaten at home once. Lee Chapman bagged a hat trick, Tony Dorigo smashed in a wonderful free kick, Mick Whitlow and Rod Walalce also got on the scoresheet.
Lets take a look back at other games from 93 onwards:
92-93 Sheff Wed 1-1 Leeds Chapman
93-94 Sheff Wed 3-3 Leeds Fairclough, Wallace, Speed
94-95 Sheff Wed 1-1 Leeds McAllister
95-96 Sheff Wed 6-2 Leeds Brolin, Wallace
96-97 Sheff Wed 2-2 Leeds Sharpe, Wallace
97-98 Sheff Wed 1-3 Leeds Wallace 2, Ribeiro
98-99 Sheff Wed 0-2 Leeds Hasselbaink, Hopkin
99-00 Sheff Wed 0-3 Leeds Hopkin, Bridges, Kewelll
05-06 Sheff Wed 1-0 Leeds
06-07 Sheef Wed 0-1 Leeds Healy (P)
12-13 Sheff Wed 1-1 Leeds Tonge
Tomorrow also sees the fifth time that the game has been televised by Sky Sports, the games in 94-95, 99-00, 06-07, and 12-13.
Leeds haven't had a player sent off in the fixture since 1992, but Sheffield Wednesday had Brad Jones sent off for bringing down David Healy in our 1-0 win in August 2006.
Finally from me kits, in 91-92 we wore all Yellow, from 92-93 - 99-00 we wore white shirts, in 05-06 we wore the navy blue shirt, yellow came back in 06-07 and last season we wore the fluorescent shirt.
NB: Anyone remember Bolitizor Bodor??? Played as a trailist in a 1-1 draw at Hillsborough in a pre-season friendly in July 2011.
Lets hope it passes without any incident tomorrow
Up the Whites!
