Leicester City vs Leeds United: Stats Preview

Anyone on to our first away game of the season, a trip to the King Power Stadium and a first visit live on TV! Here are some stats!

We might have an impressive record on the opening day of the season, (home or away) having only lost twice since 1990, its a different story when it comes to game two. Since relegation from the Premiership in 2004, we have only won two out of nine games. Those two wins coming against Southend United in 2007 and Wycombe Wanderers in 2009. We lost to Gillingham in 2004, Cardiff in 2005, drew to QPR in 2006, lost to Oldam in 2008, draw to Nottingham Forest in 2010, lost at home to Middlesbrough in 2011 and also lost to Blackpool in 2012.

This isn't the earliest we have been shown live on television either. Back in 2000, our Champions League 3rd qualifying tie 1st leg tie was shown on Sky Sports, our opening down showdown against Newcastle United was shown on Premiership Plus. Opening day games at home to Derby in 2004 (Sky Sports), 2010 (BBC), Millwall in 2005 (Sky Sports), Southampton away in 2011 were all shown live.

There have been a few debutants away in recent times, away at Leicester since 1998, Stephen Mcphail came off the bench to make his debut in a 0-1 defeat in February 1998. A certain Rio Ferdinand made his debut on December 2nd 2000, in a disastrous 3-1 defeat. Who can forget Roque Juniors debut away in 2003 (live on sky). The same game saw Salomon make his debut and finally Alex McCarthy made his Whites debut in a 1-0 win in November 2010.

Finally, the Walkers Stadium/King Power Stadium is one of Leeds United least favourite grounds! Since opening its doors in 2002, Leeds have only managed one win in eight visits, that coming on November 6th 2011. Below is our results at the Leicester's home ground.
