A game that Leeds United had to win today at Elland Road...and they did just that! Two goals from the unlikely hero that is Luke Varney and Brian McDermott is off to a winning start. My player ratings are provided below but how did you rate the players performances?
Paddy Kenny - 6 - Rarely tested.
Sam Byram - 7 - Dealt with Wednesday's wingers without too much trouble.
Jason Pearce - 5 - Putting in some unimpressive performances and could be dropped on Tuesday for Burnley's visit.
Stephen Warnock - 6 - Dealt with playing out of position and the captain's armband well.
Adam Drury - 6 - A decent return from injury.
David Norris: 6 - Harshly subbed at half-time. Diouf changed the game but Paul Green's form suggests he should have been subbed.
Paul Green 5 - Continued his disappointing recent form. Probably deserves to be on the bench on Tuesday.
Rodolph Austin: 6 - Did well to adapt for the last ten minutes when he was required in defence.
Luke Varney - 9 - What a difference a bit of effort makes. Varney tried his heart out in the second half and he didn't half reap the rewards.
Ross McCormack - 9 - Two fantastic assists. He's missed some good chances this season but his effort can never be questioned.
Steve Morison - 3 - No interest from Morison whatsoever. Probably shouldn't play again this season.
El-Hadji Diouf - 8 - Came on and changed the game. His best performance for a long time.
Aidan White - 5 - Had little effect on the game. Nothing new there.
