Leeds 1-1 Peterborough: Manager Reaction

Neil Warnock still believes Leeds are still in with a shout to reach the play-offs and remains upbeat despite last nights 1-1 draw against Peterborough.

The Whites cut the gap to five points on the play-off pack but things could have looked a lot more rosier if United had picked up all three points with nine games to go in the season.

Warnock said on the official website: "Every game at home you draw is two points dropped, but we'd got 10 games to get the points and I feel we're capable of winning away from home now as well.”

Leeds can’t afford to drop anymore points, especially at home, and the Whites entertain West Yorkshire rivals Huddersfield Town at Elland Road on Saturday and three points is a must for Warnock’s men.

"There's 27 points left and we're in a lot better situation than we were two months ago. It's just frustrating that we're not a little bit better off. We've got to look at Saturday now."

Despite creating a number of clear cut chances and having the majority of the play, the visitors always looked dangerous on the break and the game finished all square.

"I was disappointed with how we started," said the boss. "I thought the forwards were sloppy - we didn't win a header or get a challenge in - then we went a goal down and the crowd got a bit tentative, but I thought we coped with that well.

Substitute Jason Pearce was guilty of missing a few easy chances, but Warnock believes Pearce caused Posh a lot of problems.

"We did well when Jason Pearce came on going into half-time, and we had 25 shots on goal, and a free header at the end. But they always caused us problems on the break.

"I always felt it would be our toughest game of that batch and so it was."

Fergie junior felt that his Peterborough side let two crucial points slip away at Elland Road in their battle against relegation.

"It's not a good point," he told Sky Sports. "It's really disappointing that we dropped two points.

Ferguson was disappointed with the officials and felt his side were denied a penalty late on and felt Leeds were lucky to finish with eleven men on the pitch when he claimed Stephen Warnock escaped a red card for bringing down Kane Ferdinand on the edge of the box.

"If it happened at the other end the referee would not have got out of here alive if he hadn't given a red card.

"It was a great opportunity to get three points and out of the last three draws I would say tonight was the biggest opportunity.

"But unfortunately we only take a point. We had seven or eight chances to get the second goal and we've not taken them."
