Betting Preview: Barnsley vs Leeds United

Our man George Dempsey takes a peak at the best bets out there for our game against Barnsley.

Laurence Griffiths

Tomorrow Leeds United travel to a Barnsley side, and the Whites are in some of their best and worst form of the season.

Barnsley are priced at 3.20 at Ladbrokes, the draw is priced at 3.71 with Pinnacle and Leeds are clear and heavy favourites at a price of 2.42 with Pinnacle also.

Despite five wins in a row at home, and having taken 18 points from the last possible 27, Leeds have displayed extremely patchy away form, having won just one of the last nine against a poor Huddersfield side.

However, tomorrow's visit is to a perhaps even poorer Barnsley side who struggle to score more than one goal even at the best of times.

Despite results away Leeds have still displayed similar stingy performances at times and certainly have enough to keep a clean sheet against Barnsley, as they did in their 1-0 win at ER earlier in the season.

It’s been 12 games since Barnsley last won at home and they’ve only netted 8 goals in that time. Leeds have still managed 18 goals in their away games and that’s not the worst record given the results, tomorrow will see a healthier Leeds United travelling to Oakwell and the re-addition of Tonge, who could possibly even start alongside other new signing Ross Barkley.

I think Leeds certainly have the motivation to turn around their away fortunes now Elland Road is becoming a big fortress.

It stats from the back as you can always rely on Leeds, especially the in-form Becchio, to net against any level of opposition home or away and tomorrow should be no different with the Argentine priced at 2.10 to score with Bet365. Slightly generous odds.

I have however avoided recent weeks betting wise. I find it hard to bet against Leeds, even for money, but I can’t just bet on them every week as it’s simply not a good idea. Tomorrow, however, I don’t see how we can’t back a Leeds win.

Given the form and the value of the prices, I’ve picked out a few markets. If you choose to take them all, good luck. Perhaps it’s best to pick your favourite.
