Warnock Has Alot To Consider

Pre-season friendlies have come to a conclusion, with manager Neil Warnock having many decisions to make.

He has signed 10 players in the close season up to now and he still has many options to consider ahead of the Whites hosting the opening game of the Championship season against Wolves on Saturday week.

Whether to sign central defender Martin Cranie is one of those decisions that the boss will be facing in the coming days. The defender missed the matches against Preston and Burton, and Warnock has also said he is looking at adding further attacking options to his squad.

He told the club's official website.

"I spoke to Martin at the weekend, and he didn't feel he could play which I understand," he said. "I know the situation he's in and I don't blame him. We'll keep talking and see what happens there.

"We're looking at other options in other areas as well and hopefully we can get someone in to supplement the forward play. We've got to move players on first, to get players in, but you can see we do need another striker at least."

Examining options has been a key part of the manager's pre-season. Aidy White has featured on both the right side of midfield and at left back, Paddy Kisnorbo has tasted his first action since last year, after recovering from injury, and teenager Sam Byram has featured in all seven of the pre-season games.

"I wanted to look at Aidy in both positions, said the boss. "We'll have a look over the next few weeks and because he is versatile we're going to need him in a number of positions.

"We wanted Kisnorbo in again on Tuesday, and we wanted to look at him. Paddy has come through another 20 minutes or so which is good. The plan was for him to get some time in on Saturday as well and we gave him the first half an hour or so there.

"And it's been good to have Sam around. Lee Peltier has come in there, and he's versatile as well, but I trust Sam and if I had to play him I would."
