Peterborough United 1 - 2 Leeds United: Becchio Grabs Brace to Ensure Victory

A Luciano Becchio double was enough for a Leeds United victory against a Peterborough side at London Road.

The Argentinian forward now has three league goals from three games and the three points now sees the Whites move to 6th in the Championship table.

Neil Warnock made two changes (justified might I add) to his squad, Adam Drury replaced Sam Byram in defence and El-Hadji Diouf started over Aidy White.

Striker Ross McCormack tested the Peterborough goal earlier on from a free-kick after Luciano Becchio was pulled down outside the box.

Becchio was on hand to grab the opener after 7 minutes after Ross McCormack's cross wasn't cleared and Becchio found space to make it 1-0 to the Whites.

Peterborough caused the odd problem for Paddy Kenny from corners and Diouf didn't help when he made a poor mistake but the home side couldn't capitalise. McCormack nearly scored from a Peltier cross but the two sides went into the break with Warnock's men in the lead.

The second-half started with Leeds and the Posh having chances but United doubled their lead on 50 minutes. Leeds worked the ball well and found Becchio in the box who nodded the ball past Olejinik.

Leeds were unlucky not to be awarded a penalty after McCormack was fouled and United were punished when Peterborough managed to pull a goal back. The Whites failed to clear their lines and Michael Bostwick was on hand to fire home.

Youngsters Sam Byram and Dom Poleon were then thrown onto the pitch with ten minutes remaining and Byram was involved heavily nearly scoring and defending to keep Leeds level. Warnock's men held on despite some last minute jitters to pick up all three points ahead of the Capital One Cup clash against Oxford on Tuesday night.
