The Whites are today still waiting on the decision of potentially their second signing of the close season. Rumours continued to circulate last week about the Ward and Leeds connection and finally things began to materialise between the player and club when United opened talks with the 22-year-old's agent.

This morning the Yorkshire Evening Post reported that Ward is set to make his decision in the next 48 hours regarding his future. Typically of Leeds, speculation has been coming thick and fast but the club have failed to comment on the versatile right-back, leaving us non the wiser on how talks are developing.

However, Portsmouth are keen to cash in on their biggest assets meaning it could pave a way for the defender to move to Elland Road. Championship rivals Ipswich Town and Crystal Palace are also eager for Ward's signature, so Leeds will face an anxious wait for his decision over the coming days.

Despite Warnock not commenting on Ward specifically, he has reassured us that he is continuing to monitor players and would enjoy nothing more than to get the next one through the doors at Elland Road as soon as possible.

"I'm working hard and we've been talking to a lot of people over the last seven days or so. It was great to get (Pearce) done and I'd like to get my next one sorted quickly too. It's going to be like that right through the summer. The quicker the better for me."

Meanwhile, long term target Paul Green is set to stroll through the exit doors at Pride Park this summer, after the 29-year-old turned down a new contract deal with the Rams. It seems to be a reccuring theme this year as The Whites will have to tackle the Tractor Boys again in the race to land Green. It was also reported today by the Yorkshire Evening Post that Middlesbrough are also tracking the unsettled midfielder. However, Warnock has failed to shed a light onto the speculation, so we will again have sit tight and wait for any news of development.

Green who announced his decision to leave Derby last week said:

"I sat down with my family and discussed it and came to the decision that it was time for a change."

Personally, I think the Ward move can only be a step in the right direction for Leeds, as he is a young lad with drive, just what we need in our defence. Also with a man like Warnock to look up to surely the results can only be positive? However, I feel the move for Green is slightly odd. I think the gaffer would be able to attract younger talent possibly with a bit more pace, especially as we now lack that in the centre of the park. Despite that, maybe he could be another Michael Brown, hopefully without the disciplinary record!
