Diouf Ends Speculation by Signing 18-Month Contract

Leeds United's El-Hadji Diouf has ended speculation about him leaving the club by penning a new deal until the summer of 2014.

The 31-year-old has done brilliantly since his summer arrival and proved the doubters wrong, including me.

Diouf signed a non-contract deal in the summer before putting pen-to-paper on a contract until this coming January.

The former Liverpool and Bolton man has impressed in his 24 appearances to far this season. The Senegalese international has also added five goals to the team's tally including the cool finish to put the Southampton game to bed.

Speaking to the official site, manager Neil Warnock said:

"We're delighted he's agreed everything and hopefully he'll enjoy the next 18 months with us.

"Obviously it's a massive boost for everyone to know we're going to have him around, and this is what we've wanted to do. He's a match-winning, and there aren't many of them around. He's a player who can change a game and I'm delighted we've been able to keep him.

"He's also fitted in really well, and he's been great with the lads."
