10th September 2011 – LEEDS UNITED 3 CRYSTAL PALACE 2
Ross McCormack netted a double as Leeds came back from the dead to snatch all three points away from Dougie Freedman’s side. After a difficult start to the season at Elland Road, hopes were raised of a comfortable afternoon with an early goal. Teenage full back Charlie Taylor marked his debut with a stunning cross to set up Ross McCormack to head United in front. However a sloppy spell saw Palace take control of the game. Paddy McCarthy levelled the match on 12 minutes before Sean Scannell fired the Eagles ahead ten minutes later. With Leeds chasing the game, Luciano Becchio was introduced from the bench for his first appearance of the season following an injury, and his first contribution was to head in an equaliser with less than 20 minutes to go. Leeds were not finished though and with just four minutes left McCormack snatched the win.
4th December 2010 – LEEDS UNITED 2 CRYSTAL PALACE 1
On a bitter winter’s day, Leeds warmed the fans hearts by stealing three points which kept them in touch at the top of the Championship table. It was a spluttering display from the Whites and Palace fully deserved their half time lead, given to them by Neil Danns just before the break. Leeds though were not to be denied and by sheer force of will got themselves back into the game. Once again it was Becchio who made the breakthrough, levelling the game by heading home a Neil Kilkenny header. With the crowd roaring them on, Leeds grabbed the winner just two minutes later, Becchio racing through to fire past Speroni.
26th August 2008 – LEEDS UNITED 4 CRYSTAL PALACE 0 (League Cup 2nd Round)
Neil Warnock’s Championship side were blown away by their League One opponents as Gary McAllister’s side produced an impressive display. United were in command from the off and were in front after just 11 minutes, as Jonathan Douglas fired home. Jermaine Beckford doubled the lead just after the half hour as Leeds threatened to overrun their higher ranked visitors. Luciano Becchio scored his first goal at Elland Road seven minutes into the second half to kill off the Eagles. The evening was completed with an Enoch Showunmi goal, the giant striker shimmying past a defender before curling an effort into the bottom corner past Julian Speroni for a memorable fourth goal.
10th February 2007 – LEEDS UNITED 2 CRYSTAL PALACE 1
A tense afternoon saw Leeds pick up three priceless points in their fight against relegation from the Championship. Dennis Wise’s men were rooted to the bottom of the table but were boosted with a goal in the opening half hour from Matt Heath. The centre back rose well to head home a Robbie Blake corner past Gabor Kiraly in the Palace goal. Leeds were pretty dominant throughout and deservedly doubled their lead with 18 minutes to go as Richard Cresswell set up Robbie Blake to make it 2-0. However a nervous finish was set up when Carl Cort headed Palace back into the game with just eight minutes left, but the Whites hung on to win the battle, although the war against the drop was ultimately lost.
21st March 2006 – LEEDS UNITED 0 CRYSTAL PALACE 1
With both sides gunning for promotion this was the second meeting between the two sides in 17 days, with Palace earning revenge for a 2-1 defeat inflicted upon them at Selhurst Park. After producing a great display away from home, Leeds were unusually nervous on the night in a tense and tight encounter. Jobi McAnuff gave the Eagles the lead just before half time and Leeds struggled to make much impact in the second half. The game was memorable though for the first sight in a Leeds United shirt of a former windscreen fitter who would go on to become a legend. Jermaine Beckford made his Elland Road introduction as a 77th minute substitute but showed little sign of the goalscoring machine he was to become.
