Brighton & Hove Albion v Leeds United - Pre-match quotes

Through It All Together gathers the thoughts of both managers ahead of tonight's championship clash

Paul Thomas

Leeds travel south tonight to face a Brighton team who currently sit only one place above them in the table. A win tonight could see Leeds grab a play-off position before the fixtures on Saturday are played.

Below are some quotes from both managers:

Neil Warnock:

"We haven't had a spark for whatever reason

"The Charlton one was the disappointing one. Against Sheffield Wednesday we came back well, got a good point, and maybe had it not been for other things that went on, we could have won it.

"Against Birmingham we were beaten by a great strike from Leroy Lita. There wasn't much in it at all other than that, but we haven't had that spark. We've had lads running around and working, but we changed one or two things for the game against Southampton in midweek and we had more about us.

" There was a lot of tiredness after the Southampton game, but we'll give it our best shot at Brighton and look to come away with a positive result,

"We have a few little niggles. I don't want anyone playing who isn't fit, but after performances like the other night you want everyone playing in the next game."

Gus Poyet on the Whites interest in striker Craig-Mackail Smith:

“Leeds were very interested in Macca. There was a moment when it looked like he had a big chance to go. Luckily we were able to keep him.

“Let’s hope Macca has a good game and gets back to scoring goals, then probably Neil will go back thinking about why he didn’t get him. That would be a good sign.

"There are times when the right amount of money is coming for a player and the player is going to get his own rewards for that. I am not the type of manager to tell a player you cannot go.”
