24th March 2012 – MILLWALL 0 LEEDS UNITED 1
Neil Warnock earned his first win as United boss with victory in a feisty affair. The petty niggles which marred the game started early with Robert Snodgrass lucky to escape with just a booking for a dangerous looking tackle in the opening minutes. The football on display was not the best, and the match hinged on a three minute spell midway through the second half. Ross McCormack gave Leeds the advantage, bundling the ball in from close range on 65 minutes. The Lions responded quickly and were unlucky to see a goal ruled out three minutes later. Alex Bruce upended Andy Keogh, and although Harry Kane drilled in the loose ball, the referee had already awarded the penalty. Andy Lonergan rubbed salt in the wounds by saving Darius Henderson’s spot kick and Leeds hung on for a precious win, just days after a humiliating 3-7 defeat to Nottingham Forest.
9th April 2011 – MILLWALL 3 LEEDS UNITED 2
The play-off hopes of the Whites began to seriously unravel with this defeat on a delightful spring Saturday. Millwall raced into a two goal lead with strikes from James Henry and Liam Trotter inside the opening half hour. Simon Grayson changed things round at the break, bringing on Davide Somma for Robert Snodgrass, and Leeds quickly got back into the game through Luciano Becchio. Steve Morison restored the Lions two goal lead just after the hour, and despite Andy O’Brien’s late goal giving the Whites a glimmer of hope, the three points slipped away as did the clubs hopes of promotion.
24th October 2009 – MILLWALL 2 LEEDS UNITED 1
Leeds entered this game unbeaten in the League after starting the season like a house on fire. Building on the play-off disappointment of the previous season, Simon Grayson’s side had made the best start to a season in the clubs history with six straight wins and 12 games without defeat. A sloppy start saw Neil Harris put Millwall ahead on 3 minutes, but Leeds were soon level thanks to Paddy Kisnorbo’s first goal for the club. However, possibly feeling the effects of an epic win over Norwich the previous Monday, the Whites succumbed to a first defeat of the campaign when Gary Alexander netted for the Lions seven minutes from time. Once again defeat galvanised the Whites and it would be January before they tasted defeat in the League again, as they marched on to promotion.
9th May 2009 – MILLWALL 1 LEEDS UNITED 0 – League One Playoff Semi-Final 1st Leg
Leeds paid the penalty for a cautious approach to this Play-Off semi-final as Millwall grabbed what proved to be a decisive lead. The Whites had been in stunning form over the latter weeks of the season and were slight favourites entering the tie. However they were lacklustre on this Saturday lunchtime and offered very little threat in the opening 45 minutes. Millwall took control of the match and deserved the lead given to them by Neil Harris 19 minutes from time. The Millwall legend capitalised on a mistake by Richard Naylor to fire past Casper Ankergren, sparking a pitch invasion which saw the Leeds goalkeeper jostled by the home support. The slender lead was enough to take Kenny Jackett’s team through after a 1-1 draw in the second leg at Elland Road, although they missed out on promotion, beaten by Scunthorpe in the final at Wembley.
18th October 2008 – Millwall 3 Leeds United 1
Gary McAllister’s Leeds side were comprehensively beaten as the defensive problems which would blight his reign came to the fore once again. Leeds had taken the lead on 31 minutes through Becchio, but Millwall were level before half time thanks to Dave Martin. Neil Harris, always a thorn in United’s side grabbed two goals in the second half to see the Lions home to a comfortable victory.
