Austin Set for Spell on Sidelines with Cracked Ankle

Midfielder's injury not as bad as first feared.

Alex Livesey

The extent of Rodolph Austin's injury was finally revealed today; with the Jamaican international suffering a cracked ankle in Saturday's game against Watford.

In the 6-1 defeat at Elland Road, Austin went down following a collision inside his own penalty box and as a result was stretchered off and taken to hospital.

Manager Neil Warnock had raised fears that Austin had suffered a double fracture, but the news is better than first feared.

Speaking on the club's official site, Warnock said:

"It's better new than we thought. The swelling made it difficult for us to get a full diagnosis until Monday evening. We wish him well in his recovery and hopefully he will be back with us sooner rather than later."

Without Austin out until around December/January, it is vital that Leeds' takeover bid comes to fruition. With a squad as weak as Leeds' any fresh faces that can add something are needed, and fast. Warnock has had his work cut from the start, but with 'THE BEAST' missing he faces an even bigger uphill challenge.
