A fantastic performance from the Whites at Elland Road last night, who fully deserved to grab a place in the quarter finals of the Capital One Cup.
Below are some of the post match quotes from both managers:
"I thought right from the word go we were at it
"I wanted us to enjoy it. If all the games were like Charlton the other week I'm better off fishing, but when I see a team like last night doing what we did…we played some good football.
"They were always going to have a chance at some stage, but we kept going forward. I didn't want us to sit back. We should have scored more goals really. I like goals like Dioufy's because it was a tap in and we don't score enough of them.
"I don't think anyone could complain at the result. We were superb from the start. It's one of those performances you don't want to end. We could have played another hour."
Neil Warnock on Varney's performance:
"I thought Luke Varney epitomised everything. He missed the tap in of the century, but for me he was our man of the match.
"He hadn't been very well, he was sick as well at half-time, and it looked like he would come off. I asked him to give me 20 minutes and in the end he gave me 40 minutes.
"I nearly played Sam Byram there because Luke had been struggling with illness and we haven't got the pace.
"It was a tremendous performance. He deserved that applause. He's been an easy target for the fans and it was great to see him get that."
"The mindset before the game was to be very positive. Tandanari Lee, Emmanuel Mayuka and Steve De Ridder are blessed with an outstanding amount of pace so the objective was to get on the front foot by utilising that and getting in behind.
"You're playing for Southampton Football Club, so every game matters. We've got supporters who have traveled, and we've put a team out that i expected to win this game.
"We've come out to win a game of football - on paper and in theory that was possible, but we haven't produced
"I have to take full responsibility for the team that goes out and all it's done
"I've made changes because we played 48 hours ago, and you can talk about the recovery process all day long - the last thing you want to do is lose players for long periods of time.
"We've got to make sure that was address anything that is going wrong in any way we can for the sake of this football club, because that's what it's about."
