Interview with an away fan: Bradford - Bantamsfan

For the game tomorrow night against our local rivals Bradford, I caught up with Bradford City blogger Alfie Tennant, writer of http://bantamsfan.co.uk.

Everyone loves a good cup derby, although in recent years we rarely meet each other due to the gap in divisions. Are you confident of an upset?

On paper we haven’t got a chance but stranger things have happened. Despite losing our opening game there seems to be a really positive vibe in the City squad this season and I think the players will give it their all.

What do you think of current boss Peter Jackson? Is he the man to get you climbing up the leagues once again?

His appointment in February was like a breath of fresh air (after Peter Taylor) and he's definitely passionate about the club. Since he’s been given the job on a full time basis he’s brought in 13 players and I feel they look good enough to get us promoted out of this dreadful league. I definitely think Jackson is the right man for the job.

Like ourselves it wasn't too long ago we were playing our trade with the best, we are aiming for the play-offs or better but what are the aims for the season at Bradford?

The joint-chairmen and the manager seem to be playing down our chances for success this season and probably rightly so after the last ten years we’ve endured. We’ve brought in quite a few really young players so it may take a while for them to gel together as a team but I feel we still need to aim for the play-offs as a minimum.

What formation are Leeds likely to face on Tuesday?

We started out with 4-4-2 on Saturday but we reverted to 4-3-3 in the second half, so it’s anyone’s guess! I can imagine Jackson won’t want us to get over-run in midfield, so he’ll probably start with 4-4-2 again on Tuesday.

Which Bantams player will give United problems?

Tough question. If he’s fit on Tuesday, the game will see Ritchie Jones making his debut for Bradford City. I think the former Man Utd player is certainly capable of playing at higher level than League two, so hopefully he’ll be the one to watch out for.

If you could sign any Leeds player who would it be?

Ha ha. As I’ve NEVER watched Leeds on TV or read anything about them in the press, you’re probably asking the wrong person! I’d struggle to name more than 3 members of the Leeds team.

Prediction for the match?

2-1 to City after extra-time. A peter Jackson says: "There is always a shock or two in the first round of the Carling Cup - why can't it be us this year?"
