Leicester's bid for Schmeichel accepted

Leeds United have today confirmed that they have accepted a bid from fellow Championship outfit Leicester City for keeper Kasper Schmeichel.

The offer is undisclosed but is rumoured to be in the region of £1million, and Schmeichel is expected to discuss personal terms in the next few days. The Whites stopper had one year left on his current contract after joining from Notts County last summer. Last season Schmeichel made 40 appearances for Leeds, showing his talent with some eye-catching saves. However some of his performances were heavily criticised, as Leeds conceded 70 goals.

At present United have no goalkeepers, and will need to dig deep to bring in a keeper of higher quality. Coventry City goalkeeper Kieron Westwood is rumoured to be joining the club, but Leeds face competition from Sunderland.
