2011/2012 Leeds given a tough start

This summer so far has been long and boring for football fans, with no World Cup all we have to look forward to is when our club signs a new player, and at Leeds United that isn't very often at the moment.

However today marks the first real day of the football season, the fixture list release day. Thousands of fans around the UK have been waiting anxiously waiting for the announcement at 9am this morning.

Leeds United will start the season on August 6th away to Southampton, and will finish the campaign at home to Leicester City on April 28th. The Whites first home game sees Middlesbrough travel to Elland Road on August 13th, quickly followed by another against Hull City on the 16th.

The three games over the Christmas/New Year period sees United tackle Derby County at Pride Park on Boxing Day, Barnsley away on New Years eve and Burnley at home on January 2nd.

This years fixtures reiterate how tough the Championship will be this year Blackpool, Birmingham and West Ham have come down from the Premier League and will be looking to bounce straight back. Brighton, Southampton and Peterborough will certainly be no pushovers, and Leeds look set for a very difficult 2011/2012 campaign.
