Leeds United vice-captain Jonny Howson has been called up to the provisional 40 man squad for the Under 21 European Championships.
The Championships will run from June 11th to the 25th and will be hosted in Denmark. Howson will find out if he has made the 23 man squad on the 1st of June, a week before Stuart Pearce and his team jet off to Denmark to start their preparations for their first game against Spain.
This is the third time this season that Howson has been called up to the Under 21's. In February the Leeds born midfielder stepped off the bench but couldn't prevent England losing 1-0, and in March Howson was called up to face Denmark but had to withdraw through injury.
Howson is worthy of his third call up, the midfielder has been in sizzling form for most of the season. Recently Howson has been found wanting in the middle of park, and has struggled to put his mark on certain matches, especially against Crystal Palace. Hopefully with a couple of weeks rest Howson will earn his place on the plane and perform to his potential.
