Tour of Ireland comes to close in Shelbourne

The tour of Ireland ended with a 1-1 draw against Shelbourne with Gary McAllister giving striker Luciano Becchio his debut. Previously today, Gary acknowledged that there is a language barrier with the young Argentine but it is something he feels they can move past. From a performance standpoint, Luciano is a brilliant young talent and a rare find for League One. While barely having the chance to work with the squad in a serious practice yet, he showed well with Jonny Howson and David Prutton most notably, created some solid scoring opportunities and narrowly missed finishing on a few others. Hopefully the opportunity to sign Luciano to a contract can be worked-out because as the season progresses and he acclimates to the team and environment, he'll be a stellar Striker.

Now as the squad returns to Leeds, the opening match Scunthorpe United is roughly two weeks away and a lot of decisions are to be made.

Lineup:
Leeds: Martin, Richardson, Sheehan, Douglas (Bayly 62), Marques (Michalik 46), Huntington (Telfer 62), Prutton (Gardner 62), Howson (Sweeney 62), Becchio (Haber 73), Showunmi, Johnson (Parker 49). Subs: Ankergren, Lucas.

Shelbourne: Whelan, Chambers, Murphy, Byrne, Brennan, Bolger, McGill, Forsyth, Flood, Freeman, Rutherford. Subs: Hedderman, Georgescu, Farrell, O'Brien, Laurence, McGlynn, McCabe, O'Reilly, McGuinness, Notando.
