with thanks to loyal service of Gary McAllister

With the four successive loss Leeds made the decision to let go of Gary McAllister. In a club-issued statement it was noted:

"The decision was made to ensure that the new manager has the maximum number of games possible to move the club up the table.

"The club would like to place on record its thanks for the loyal service given to Leeds United by Gary since joining the club as manager in January 2008, and wish him every success in the future.

"The club will make no further comment on a replacement until we are in a position to make an appointment, which we are committed to doing as quickly as possible."

Without a doubt Gary McAllister did a superb job rescuing the club following the departure of Dennis Wise. Unfortunately the club of recent hasn't responded to him and this move was needed. Whoever replaces him will need to make it clear that lack of intensity will not be tolerated and all positions are up for grabs.
